Artwork Title: Metropolis Series

Metropolis Series

Alan Schaller

"Metropolis" is a series examining how we are dwarfed in the modern world around us and often lost in it. It is a subject that impacts a vast majority of the world. People are substituting real relationships for digital ones. We are inherently social creatures after all, and the way we are getting lost in the online world and the big city life is hard to miss. These photographs are my interpretation of this disconnection. I chose everyday urban locations as my backdrops, reimagining them using a combination of the right subjects, light, shadow, perspective and the shape of the environment itself.” Alan Schaller Shot entirely on the Leica M Monochrome, Alan has examined how we are so dwarfed by the world around us and often lost in it. With a strong focus on abstraction and shape Alan shows our connections, or lack of thereof, with each other and the spaces we inhabit. [http://alanschaller.com/]
