Artwork Title: My Country
Anna illustrates topographically, multi-layered components, which are spiritually connected to her homeland of Atneltyeye in the Utopia region of Central Australia. Anna Price Petyarre is renowned for her fine painting technique and for the care and pride she takes in her work, producing intricate and sensitive paintings that relate to the traditional culture of her Anmatyerre heritage. She paints diverse and sometimes rugged country of sand hills, rocky outcrops and waterways of her home country of Utopia, north east of Alice Springs. The painting is an aerial view of the land. The circles that she sometimes depicts are dried salt plains that have formed over time. Following the heavy rains of monsoon large water holes are created.
