雨水 Yushui ( Rain Water ) Yushui means the rainfall increases. It’s also the time the weather get warmer, people can obviously feel the raise in temperature after Yushui. Usually it’s between 2/18-2/19. In 2017 it’ll be 2/18. First pentad: Otters make offerings of fish. Since fishes swim to the surface, now otters can catch them. It says because otters display the fishes on the rock after they caught them, and the way they move their head looks like worshiping the god with a subservient manner, ancient people felt otters seems to be offering the food to the god before eating. Second pentad: The wild geese arrive. Last pentad: Trees and grass put forth shoots. So for Yuchui, because the otter’s behavior sounds cute, I decided to go with this animal. I drew him in a posture as if he is praying to the god, or waiting permissions from the heaven. (May I have my lunch?)
