The Rose1958-1966 by Jay Defeo

Almost eight years in the making, Defeo only stopped working on it when she was forced to move out of her studio apartment. By then is almost weighed a ton, and the only way to move the paining was to cut out part of the building’s front wall and extract it with a forklift. It is now part of the permanent collection at The Whitney in New York.
