Artwork Title: I Lost You
From: Louise Bourgeois & Tracey Emin: Do not abandon me. Louise Bourgeois and Tracey Emin worked for two years on their collaborative series. Unfortunately Bourgeois was not able to view the result in an exhibition – it was one of the last projects before she passed away. Bourgeois made water-colors of torsos of men and women. Afterwards, Tracey Emin drew figures and sentences, on a small scale and so literally modest on the work’s surface. Sometimes these are very funny, sometimes they provide a view on Emin’s personal life. For example, Bourgeois created a pregnant belly, and Emin added the text: ‘I lost you’, and in a different work ‘I wanted to love you more’, referencing the abortion she went through.
