Saint Harriet

Natalie Daise

Sweetgrass Saints are Gullah ancestors who lived and worked in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. Harriet Tubman came to the Lowcountry in 1862 to work with the Union Army. She ran a bakery and a laundry in downtown Beaufort. She nursed the black soldiers and also served as a spy for Colonel Montgomery. This women is my hero. This original is acrylic on 8" x 10" canvas.
