Artwork Title: Sonnenspiegelung
"Expelled, forgotten, misunderstood" is the title of the stand and so Tarnay's work is combined with woodcuts by Gertraud Reinberger-Brausewetter. She was born in 1903, the daughter of a wealthy builder, an early student of Franz Cizek, anddied in 1992. Her astonishingly large woodcuts for the 1920s are characterized by strong black and white contrasts, a leaf is almost abstract, others almost expressionistic. Whether due to lack of acceptance by artists or lack of necessity due to her financial security, her work was hardly exhibited at all in her lifetime.
