Sly Predator - Deceptive Motives The name Vulpecula translates to “little fox.” The constellation depicts a fox with a goose in its jaws: a predator running away with its prize. Symbolically, the constellation refers to the presence of someone with deceptive motives. Upright, the positive attributes of the fox are often offset by its cagey nature and self-serving actions. The fox is naturally cunning and sharp, and very aware of its ability to deceive. After all, it is interested in securing it’s own success, even if it is to the detriment of someone else’s. The nature of this card is predatory, but when upright, it is usually in a more light-hearted, competitive manner -- such as in games, sports, or low-stakes endeavors. When this card appears reversed, the fox’s motives may not be as playful. Be wary of Vulpecula’s charm and charisma. A fox may try to get emotionally or professionally close enough to an unwary individual in order to assess the likelihood they can benefit from the relationship. Vulpecula’s self-interest may show up when interacting with a two-faced “friend,” or perhaps it will surface in a professional setting. These types of people are often hard to detect because of their social finesse. But once revealed, Vulpecula is easy to spot from a mile away.
