This painting was inspired by the idea that malevolent or ominous creatures in Nature help maintain balance and order in a world of chaos, and it also represents our desire to mythologize these animals in an attempt to understand their significance in our lives and psyche. What is also interesting is that both wolves and ravens are seen as connected to dark themes in literature and art, and in Nature they have been seen to work and even play together. Ravens will help Wolves locate prey, as they depend on the carcasses left behind.
