Head of a Child

Marianne Stokes

Marianne Stokes was Austrian-born, and married to the English painter Adrian Stokes, whom she had met at the artist's colony of Pont-Aven in Brittany. They lived at Newlyn in Cornwall, but having no children traveled widely. This little Dutch girl was probably painted in about 1901.
