Nathan Gluck

Nathan Gluck (1918 - 2008) achieved acclaim as Andy Warhol’s principle studio assistant from the early 1950s through the mid-1960s. He attended Cooper Union, the Pratt Institute and at the Arts Student League where he studied under noted modernist and educator Vaclav Vytlacil. Over the course of 70 years Nathan Gluck produced hundreds of original collages combining a wide assortment of techniques and materials. His earliest collages, created in the 1930s and 40s, pay homage to Max Ernst and Picasso, while those produced from the 1990s through mid-2008 display the finely honed sensibility, originality and confidence of an artist completely at ease with his skills and knowledge. Anyone who knew him personally can see his quirky, yet elegant sense of style, sharp wit, appreciation of language, music and the classics, and, above all, his oddball sense of humor reflected throughout his work.
