“Robert Crumb had several good friends he corresponded with as a teenager, like his best friend (and future brother-in-law) Marty Pahls. Crumb would add a special touch to each letter by folding the paper in half, booklet-style, and adding a ‘front cover’ illustration. On this 'Note’ letter, dated Saturday, July 23, 1960, Crumb has drawn a portrait of actress and cultural icon Marilyn Monroe.
