Artwork Title: Still Life with Flower Jug and Doll II

Still Life with Flower Jug and Doll II, 1924

Rudolf Wacker

From Rudolf Wacker’s diary: November 1924 “A new naturalism?” Yes, but it is something much more direct, that implicates people far more in the objective, is more immediate – and does not merely address visual pleasure. All things rendered tangible as things - and as objects arrayed both well away from one another and alongside one another – their harmonies will lie in their experience of the cosmic, unifying the most extreme oppositions. We experience each form more intently when it is set against another entirely different form. Even a movement is made more evident when it is interrupted.
