From Jugend, 1897. Jugend ("Youth" in German) was a German art magazine created in the late 19th century. The magazine was based in Munich. It featured many famous Art Nouveau artists and is the source of the term "Jugendstil" ("Jugend-style"), the German version of Art Nouveau. The magazine was founded by writer Georg Hirth. Jugend became the namesake of the art direction of German Art Nouveau. In addition to modern illustrations and ornamentation of art nouveau, other styles played a role, especially Impressionism....
