According to tradition this is the portrait of Schieppeja of Everdingen aka Scipio, the younger brother of Caesar van Everdingen, often mentioned as the painter piece. If only because of the dating of 1625 - Caesar was only 8 years - that is an impossibility. The painter remains unknown. Scipio Everdingen was on April 14 1623 christened as 'Schieppeja', son of Pieter van Everdingen and Aechje Claesdr nut.
