Artwork Title: Full Moon

Full Moon, 2007

Yuri Petrovich Kugach

Painted when the artist was 90 years old. Considered to be one of the most important artists in Russia, he completed a series of paintings that blew away his peers and followers, who perhaps thought with age he had lost his artistic luster....We can imagine the artist, working alone, at the end of his life...the work offers not only a subtle, luminous moonscape, but also a metaphor serving as the artist's self-portrait facing mortality.
