Artwork Title: Lynx - Eyes of a Lynx

Lynx - Eyes of a Lynx, 2015

Emily Cheeseman

Silent Observation - Subtleties - Opportune Timing This faint constellation is difficult to spot with the naked eye. Its founder Johannes Hevelius once said, it requires the “eyes of a lynx” to see it amongst the heavens. Named for the luminescence of its eyes, the lynx is also famed for its impeccable eyesight. The Lynx is elusive and ghost-like, and is often found silently observing its surroundings. Because of this it is often associated with the search for knowledge. Upright this card symbolizes vision, foresight, observation, and precise focus. This card is about detecting opportunities that might easily be overlooked. It is also a card of careful observation. Ever watchful like the Lynx, a person may see the opportune time to react and act accordingly. This may be a good time to pay extra close attention to the subtleties of people’s actions, encounters, or events that are unfolding. When the card is reversed, one’s gaze may be able to see through the deceptive actions of others to reveal an underlying truth. In another reading, it may indicate that a person may be the subject of observation, the tone of which would be revealed by the surrounding cards in a reading.
