Artwork Title: Coluber Constrictor Priapus

Coluber Constrictor Priapus

Claire DeLucca

From the artist: "I spent most of my childhood up in the branches of trees or crouched near the ground, enamored with the creatures that buzzed, scampered, and crept around me. Born and raised in Florida, I chased lizards, watched for snakes, and decorated myself with the discarded exoskeletons of cicadas. I "adopted" a pregnant wolf spider and wept at her untimely demise. I thrilled at the sleek black racers that made their swift, secret way through our jungle-like yard. Beautiful, delicate, shining bodies flashing like black oil rainbows among the ferns and azaleas. This piece is my love letter to Floridian fauna."
