Sleeper2007-2008 by Michaël Borremans

This painting depicts a sleeping child, whose body has been omitted intentionally. Why you ask? Borremans playing here again with the mystical. The artist leaves the question entirely to the viewer. Another element in this work is that you might wonder whether the sleeping child is a boy or a girl and whether the child is asleep or dead.
